The Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education, delivered a presentation via zoom from the United States on the status of out-of-school children in Nigeria during the Federal stakeholders' review meeting on OOSC standards and benchmarking in Nigeria.
The presentation highlighted the many challenges that Nigeria faces in educating its children, including poverty, insecurity, and social and gender norms. These barriers must be addressed in order to make education accessible to all children.
The Federal Government of Nigeria is committed to reducing the number of out-of-school children. The presentation outlined a number of strategies that will be implemented to achieve this goal, including:
Increasing funding for education
Improving the quality of education
Making education more accessible
Addressing the barriers that prevent children from attending school
These strategies will take time and effort to implement, but they are essential for ensuring that all Nigerian children have the opportunity to go to school and get an education.
